Book Review: The Inmate By Freida McFadden

Plot:

There are three rules Brooke Sullivan must follow as a new nurse practitioner at a men’s maximum-security prison:

1) Treat all prisoners with respect.

2) Never reveal any personal information.

3) Never EVER become too friendly with the inmates.

But none of the staff at the prison knows Brooke has already broken the rules. Nobody knows about her intimate connection to Shane Nelson, one of the penitentiary’s most notorious and dangerous inmates.

And they certainly don’t know that Shane was Brooke’s high school sweetheart—the star quarterback who is now spending the rest of his life in prison for a series of grisly murders. Or that Brooke’s testimony was what put him there.

But Shane knows.

And he will never forget.

Review:

Just when you think you have it all figured out Freda surprises you yet again!
Fast paced as usual from this author. The novel was gripping. I LOVE this authors style!

This woman Brooke starts a job in a mens prison as a nurse. She already knew she would see her ex in there. She also has a son. The story goes back and forth to the night that supposedly got him in there. You are hearing different opinions about people in this novel so it can be confusing as you change your opinion of them constantly.

Is he guilty? What about this guy from her past that is now the headmaster of her son’s new school as they moved back to her childhood home?

Who is to tell which person to believe.
By the end of it, it will have you wondering; will history be repeating itself?
